floppy drive

Floppy drive does not recognize disk. I installed a new
floppy drive and cable, but power comes on and will not
shut off and still does not recognize disks. The same
occurred with old floppy drive. Running XP, everything
else OK. Error code (40). Any help appreciated.

Do you mean the power light stays on? If so, then flip
the floppy cable. The light is usually an indication that
its installed backwards. Good luck.
