I had downloaded many files from another computer (Windows 98) onto disks.
This computer has since died. I now have a new couputer with Windows XP.
How do I download these floppy disk files onto Windows XP? Please explain in
a simple way as I am still learning. Thank you.

OK, you want to transfer files that you have saved on floppies to your
new computer's hard drive (probably to the My Documents folder would be
a good choice).

1. Put a floppy in your new computer's floppy drive.
2. Go to My Computer, either from the Start menu or by double-clicking
the My Computer icon if it is on your desktop.
3. You will see the A: drive there, which is your floppy. Double-click
it to open it. If the windows takes up the full screen, make it
smaller.
4. Now open your My Documents folder. Again, make it smaller if it goes
full screen. You want to be able to see two windows on your desktop:
the one for the floppy and the one for My Documents.
5. In the floppy windows, right-click on the file you want to transfer
and drag it to the My Documents windows. Release the right mouse button
and you'll get a menu with choices. Choose "Copy" - not "Move". The
file will copy to My Documents.
6. XP has a good Help & Support system. You can get to it from the Start
button.

Just the way that you got the files onto them. In XP, open a My
Computer window (and do not have it maximised) and double click the
floppy drive icon, with a floppy in it. That will show the files. You
can then open another My Computer, open the drive\folder where you want
to put them (probably by opening My Documents) and drag the files from
one to the other

Or use the view menu/explorer bar> show folders
