Floppy Disk Controller - Code 10

I have XP Pro and my floppy disk controller stopped
working. The error I receive under properties is "This
device cannot start. (Code 10)".
I went through the troubleshooter (reinstall, disconnect,
etc.) and this didn't help.
The floppy disk is about a year old and has hardly been
used.

Can anyone help?
