Ignoring the issue that this has nothing to do with document management in
Microsoft Word...
Maybe you can't put a disk into the drive because there's already one in
there. Look for a tiny hole on the drive's faceplate. Unbend a paperclip and
push the end of it into that hole; if there's a disk stuck in the drive,
that will usually pop it out.
If that doesn't work, replace the drive. You can buy a good one from an
excellent dealer online for less than $15 including shipping
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16821103202) and
possibly for less elsewhere. Get a local geek (usually a 12-year-old kid
works well) to install it for you -- it takes about 10 minutes.
