Floppy and CD-Rom drives not working

M

Matt

My 2 CD-Rom/Burner drives and my floppy drive recently
stopped working. My floppy drive says "A:\ is not
accesible. Incorrect function." when I double click on
the floppy drive in my computer.

Both of my CD-Rom drives say the exact same thing as the
floppy drive.

I tried deleting the devices in Device Manager and
restarting my computer. Windows found the proper drivers
after I restarted but the problem stayed the same.

Any suggestions would be very helpful and appreciated.

Thanks

I don't have an answer but I'm having the same problem and
it just started after SP2 installed itself.

Have you both tried reinstalling the latest drivers for your
motherboard? It seems like upgrading to Service Pack 2 has messed up a
lot of peoples' computers in the area of optical/storage drives. These
are controlled by the chipset drivers. Some have fixed the problem by
simply installing the latest drivers.

If you each post your computer make and model or motherboard make and
model, I will point you toward the correct drivers. You can also find
out for yourself if want to try using Everest Home (free) from
www.lavalys.com . You just download and install it, run it and it will
tell you everything about your computer and where to get the latest drivers.
