Flashing CD Icon

J

Joe

For some reason my computer has started flashing a CD Icon immediately to
the right of the mouse pointer, it flashes at the rate of about twice a
second.

Using XP Pro SP2

Any suggestions please.

Do you have a disc in the CD drive(s)? This mouse point usually indicated
that some program is trying to access your CD drive(s).

Thanks for the reply Yves.

I recently removed my CD Rom and replaced it with another unit and also
installed a DVD burner and somehow another drive was created, whether this
was the left over from my Clone Virtual drive or not I don't know, but I
have it all in order at the present time.

Greatly appreciated.

Do you have any files to be written waiting? Checkpoints:

Default storage is here: Documents and Settings\<username>\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning

If you are using TweakUI, go to My Computer/Special Folders see what is set
for CD Burning. Make sure it is set to a folder and not a drive.

Hello Kelly and thank you for your reply.

There are no files waiting to be written.

The default folder is empty.

I do have tweaku1 installed but don't use it much, but the folder for CD
burning is set to the default folder as you listed.

I have done a chkdsk /f and sfc /scannow and at present the problem isn't
occurring so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Kelly, would you mind if I sent a screenshot of another little problem that
I have to your private address as it would take too much explaining on here.

Many thanks to all as usual.

Further to my last posting, it seems that the computer can run for about 20
minutes, and then the problem recurs, and this only doing emails.

Any further suggestions please?
