Thanks - I would recommend this one.

Flash-related vulnerabilities are a serious problem. By most accounts,
Microsoft does this better than Thunderbird on an architectural
basis--Microsoft ensures that buffer overflows are caught before they are
passed on to the Adobe code. However, there still seem to be plenty of bugs
left in that code.

I think the answer is no, in the technical sense.

Secunia shows no unpatched vulnerabilities since July.

However, this paper:

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/fplayer9_security.html

seems to refer to security related improvements in this specific version.

I believe in keeping Flash current if you are going to have it installed.
Of course, you could uninstall Flash and be more secure, but this has side
effects, i.e. Flash content will not be displayed...

And this would be a bad thing ?? :)

I generally update Macromedia/Adobe "Flush" quickly if it's a security issue
and wait a little while if it's not. It's a little cumbersome to install it
in my Portable Firefox as the Install[monst]er of "Flush" wants to install
to a "fixed" version of Firefox, which I don't use. I don't want to do it
and then have to redo it again 5 days later if they find a bug. So I guess
I'll wait till next week.

See
http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/9/releasenotes.html#fixes_90115
for what's new in 9.0.115.0

Note: Flash Player must be installed twice for users who use other
browsers than IE; once on IE (ActiveX), and once on one other browser
(plugin).

P.S. there is also a new uninstaller available at
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html#uninstaller

I recommend that the previous Flash Player is uninstalled before
installing the new version, especially for IE, so that the old OCX can
be unregistered and deleted.
