Flash drive reboots system

I have a couple of USB flash drives (memory sticks or thumb drives if
you prefer ) that until a recent windows update (not sure which one yet)
worked fine. Now after useing them a couple of times, they cause the system
to reboot when inserted. If I restart the system and go to device manager
and delete the USB memory stick listing from the list of USB devices, they
work again for a while with several inserts and removals and then all of a
sudden they restart the system again and I need to go thru the process of
removing the listing in device manager again.

The is running Windows XP PRO with SP2 and all currrent microsoft updates.
(sometimes not the best thing)

Also the drives work fine on my other desktop system and my laptop as well
as several system's at work. I am no longer sure of the brand names as they
have worn off from being in my pocket. I am also careful to use the safely
remove device function each time to remove the drive. By the way any other
USB device can be plugged in to the system and works fine when this is going
on (webcam, printer.digital camera etc.) just not any flash drive even ones
from other friends and coworkers.I have even run antivirus scans on them and
found nothing.

Are thier any new USB drivers from windows that may have been installed from
a recent update that I may need to revert back to and older version. And if
so how painful is that going to be (registry changes etc)

Thanks in advance for any help

Have a look in the event log and see if that provides any useful information.

Checked there after clearing the logs and having the failure again and after
diging thu it all I found was go to Lexar Media and download the latest
drivers. But Lexar's site says no drivers are required for XP so there are
none to download.
