Flash Drive read only problem

I have just purchased my first flash drive, a Sandisk Cruzer Titanium.
Having connected this to my USB and trying to save documents to the
drive it is denied stating that the folder is marked as read only.
Sandisk are unhelpful saying it is due to restrictions on my computer,
but presumably this can be adjusted. I would be grateful for any
suggestions.

Does your flash drive have a tiny switch on it to make it read-only? I
have a Memorex thumbdrive that does. Examine your usb drive carefully.

Afraid not, it doesn't seem to have one.

I tried both 'save as' directly from a new document to the 'E' drive,
and left click drag both with the same result. As for the CruzerLock
data security software, i've not seen it.

Then I'm sorry, but I don't know. I've never experienced a problem with
a usb thumbdrive being read-only without making it so with a physical
switch.

Maybe Windows is configrued to write protect USB drives:
