FLASH 850Pro to 850XT PE: Anyone done it?

I'm reading about a flash you can do against an X850Pro (AGP) to unlock
16 pipelines instead of the default (12).

Just curious if anyone's done this, and if it proved worth it in terms
of added throughput. I' running an AMD 2500+ CPU (1.8GHz) - not sure at
what point that will be my bottleneck..

I have an Arctic Cooler on the way, and will use Arctic Silver 5 on it.
So I should have little concern about added heat causing problems.

Thanks!

Thanks, I stumbled onto the same thread. Looks like not everyone who
tries it gets the same results, and it also looks like it will see a
_moderate_ boost in performance, but not screaming.

I'll just have to evaluate the risk and potential reward. ;-)

Thanks!

Consider how "Binning" works, there could be a very good
reason the GPU is on your 850Pro and not an 850XT PE.
It could be that it couldn't run with all the pipelines enabled or
it could be any of a number of other shortcomings. Only the
computer in the FAB knows.

It could be that whatever shortcoming sent that GPU to your
card won't impact on how you use it, you could get lucky. Or
something you really need won't work or won't work well. It's
a crap shoot.

It's a crap shoot.

Much like the AMD 300 CPUs which were so readily clocked up to 450. Not
all worked.

And, for the 10% increase in performance, it's really not worth the
uncertainty for me.

I'll shelf the experiment for now, and carry on. Coming from a 9800Pro,
the performance jump to an X850Pro is plenty acceptable - on the order
of 100 - 200% faster. ;-)
