When I click on the "quickstart" button on the lower left portion of my
taskbar on my Windows Vista Home Premium machine to start EXPLORER so I can
look at my directories, ooops, folders, etc. it takes me to
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe I would like to have it take me directly to
Computer/Acer (C:) I.e. I want to click onto the shortcut and have it show
a specific drive (C:) on my machine and not have to click through things
like admin/documents/family, etc., etc. every time I want to go directly to
drive C: Obviously, I have an Acer and they manage to have drive C:
prefaced with the word "Acer."

Appreciate any help.

In other words, what do I change the command line to so that I go directly
to drive C: I'm adding this just to let you know I know HOW to change
the command line, just not what to change it to.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Create a shortcut, point it to the %systemroot%\explorer.exe /e, C:\

Right click on the Windows Explorer icon, select Properties and type or
copy/paste the following into the Target box:

%systemroot%\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:

You can also create a Desktop icon for Windows Explorer with the same
command.

Hi, Chet.

You can do that with no typing, too. Just open Windows Explorer and
navigate to the folder you want. Then right-click in the address bar and
click Copy Address. Then find an empty spot on your Desktop and click New |
Shortcut. In the location box, just Paste it, then click Next and give it a
name and click Finish.
