Fix Task Manager->Networking update speed?

Somehow, the "normal" update speed on the network chart has become 2 seconds,
rather than one second.

The "high" speed seems to be about 0.5 seconds and "low" looks to be about 4.

How can I get the "normal" back to update at 1 second intervals, so the
displayed "bytes per interval" match the actual speed on the line?

First, do not use your name, address and email address in forums. You
leave yourself wide open for hackers, spam and malware. Next,
have you checked your modem setup? Checked with your ISP?

No thanks; I have more effective ways of dealing with problems of that
sort other than hiding in the basement.

Gee... Exactly what in my "modem setup" could possibly affect this,
especially since I'm not using a modem?

And it's even more preposterous to suggest that my ISP could somehow
affect the update speed of XP's task manager display.

Task manager networking update speed 2 seconds fix

I also had the problem that Windows XP Task Manager networking update speed was 2 seconds for "Normal". I read on another forum that someone deleted the two keys in the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\TaskManager
folder, but that didn't work for me.

This is what I did to fix it.

1. Make sure Task Manager is closed. Download and install
the registry at this web site and it reset Task Manager completely, including visible columns and screen position,
and restored "Normal" to 1 second. :)

See registry edit #113. (Repair)

Or 2. Make a <name>.reg file containing the following lines and then install it (with Task Manager closed first of course):
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\TaskManager]

It looks like the registry key works by deleting the folder
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\TaskManager in the registry.
