Fix morphed sysvol folders "Policies" & "Scripts"

Our Policies and Scripts folders in the Sysvol directory
have morphed from NTFRS replication.

Sysvol\domain.com\Policies
Sysvol\domain.com\Policies_NTFRS_xxxxxx
Sysvol\domain.com\Scripts
Sysvol\domain.com\Scripts_NTFRS_xxxxxx

states to rename the original and morphed folders and
wait for them to propogate through the system. Then
rename the folder I wish to keep and delete the other
folder.

How does this affect group policy and login scripts on
the domain while these folders are renamed and after the
folder is chosen and renamed back to the original name?

What is the best way to synch these folders so that the
original folder contains any and all of the files that
are more current from the morphed folder?

Usually when there is a morph, there is a good folder and a bad folder. You
should follow these steps on one DC, preferably the PDCE

1. Rename both (folder_keep, folder_delete)
2. Make sure the rename replicates
3. Rename the folder_keep folder back to the original name
4. Whack the folder_delete folder
5. Make sure replication settles the rest

Group policy won't apply while the folder is not names the same, so you will
likely get userenv 1000/scecli 1001 (2003 gives 1058/1030) on GP application
forces. Scripts will not run either. Replication is usually pretty quick
though as morphing is a sign that replication is working a little too good,
so you should not see much functionality loss. Probably an off-hour deal if
you are dependant on your policies and scripts.
