Fix Access 2003 OLE so that Photo Editor is not required

Suddenly my Access databases with photos are not working. Why? I have
installed Office 2003 which does not have Photo Editor. Picture Manager, the
replacement does not cut mustard. I have had to go back to my Office XP disks
and re-install Photo Editor.

The handling of photos/images in Access has languished with little or no
development. The digital world has moved to JPG as, more or less, the
de-facto standard while Access wraps JPGs in wrappers within wrappers causing
huge bloat.

There are workarounds but they are just that.
Why not get it right?

Thanks for the answer to my problem. I have been fighting with photos half
the evening. I changed the Open With to other programs and none work for me.

There must be an aversion to graphics in Redmond -- first they dropped
PhotoDraw -- the easiest to use (and in my opinion the best) graphics program

Yeh! They seem to take a few goes to get it right and do not always talk
between themselves.
Do not forget to vote. Perhaps it helps??? :=)

I've requested this as well - stunning that the OLDER versions of Access were
ready for pictures - esential for any inventory database but the NEW version
doesn't! I don't think they fixed this in 2007 yet either!!!!!

I hear in 2007 they'll be taking away relational aspects of Access. By 2009
they are hoping to remove the gui interface.
