Hi Embedded NG!

I want install a Trial of WinXPE. I have 2 older PC´s. I think they have 300
Mhz. Ok, the first question i have. Must i have, installed on this older
Computer first a normal installation of WinXP-Home or Pro, or can i install
WinXPE on a naked Computer? When the older computer is naked, how to install
WinXPE?
When i have installed WinXP pro , WinXPE make a Image, and that image i can
boot from CD? I´m new in this section, so please understand my simple, silly
questions!

Hi Franco,

Assuming I understood your question:

Windows XP Embedded is not an OS that you simply install, first you have to
build an image.
In order to do so you must have following:

- PC with WinXP w/ SP1 or Win2000 w/ SP4 installed
- Copy of Windows XP Embedded Studio (you can build evaluation images that
runs 90-180 days with the trial version)

If you have further questions, post them here so we can point you in the
right direction.

Rob

Hi!

Ist es normal das der "Dependency-Check" so lange dauert? Mein alter Rechner
rattert schon ein paar Stunden rum! Hab aber nur die Komponenten reingetan,
die dieser Rechner braucht. Ist das normal?

You mentioned earlier that you are using a PC w/ 300MHz, right? Then I'd say
an hour or two is normal.
MS recommends 728MHz or faster, 512MB RAM (1GB recommended).
If you intend to build a lot of images I'd recommend you a faster PC (maybe
+2GHz?), or you'll be able to test just a couple of builds per day.

Also, try posting your questions in English in this NG - you will probably
get more answers then. ;-)

Hi Rob!
There are many useful links on how to use XPE. Here´s a starter:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...tbstutorialbuildingdeployingrun-timeimage.asp

For bootable CD-ROM have a look here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d.../en-us/xpehelp/html/xeconeltoritocdasdisk.asp

MSDN has a lot of useful how-to guides.
Also, search this NG for questions.

Ups, sorry that i posting in german. Ok, i have made my first embedded
image, but i have become the 0x0000007b error. i see for a short moment the
embedded logo, but then the bs come.think i forgot some pci to.... things. i
read all the topics, so i know now how to make an image. to make a bootable
cd i can make it when i have a functionally embedded system. ok, today i try
the sample winlogon macro, maybe the image start then. must i make the
dependency check? that going so loooooooong? So i hope today my embedded
image working!
