First Desktop File Automatically Opening

M

Matt8441

When I start-up my computer, the first file on my desktop automatically
opens. It seems like it's just whatever file is in the top left of my
screen, because the mouse cursor automatically moves up there and
selects it. I would think that if I left the top left blank, it
wouldn't open anything, but then there's still the case of the mouse
automatically jumping to that spot. It seems like it could be some
kind of virus, but no virus scanner has found anything.

Any ideas what this could be?

Checking what is starting with the help of msconfig :
.... Click Start button
.... Click Run
.... Type msconfig
.... Go to Startup tab
.... Look for each entry name that seems strange but don't disable that.
.... Search for the name in Google. You will find all the info like what you should
do with that.

It is possible that somehow you accidently created shortcuts from your
desktop to the STARTUP folder. Goto:
C:\Documents and Settings\Your_User_Namel\Start Menu
Remove anything here you don't want starting up.

Good Luck,

I couldn't find anything overly suspicious, and anything that was
questionable, I disabled. But it still did it when I started it up.

Tried that too, no weird files at all.

Do you have your desktop "Web enabled"? Try turning that off
if so..... right click desktop | properties | desktop | customize
desktop | web.....

Good Luck,
