first boot fails, OK after reset

The first start of my machine fails a lot, I get a black screen once XPstarts loading. After pressing the reset button the system will reboot and all is fine. This happens most of the times, sometimes the system will start just fine. Any clues?

Although it certainly may be a hard drive error (and you can test for
this with a diagnostic utility from the hard drive mftr.'s website),
the probable cause is more likely that your power supply is either
dying or is inadequate.
