firewire connection

how do you hook up a camcorder to a dell latitude d800. i
have a firewire cable but i dont know how to hook
everything up to the computer. can anyone help?
 
Connect one end of firewire cable to PC.

Connect other end of cable to camcorder.

Ensure camcorder is connected to AC power and not its internal battery.

Turn camcorder on in 'vcr' mode.

XP should do the rest.
