Firewire Card Installation

I've just installed a QTEC firewire card. All of the info
with the card tells me that the P&P will pick up the
installation and XP will provide the correct driver.
First problem is that P&P doesn't pick up the new card
and the second problem is when I try to install manually
XP tells me it has no drivers for IEEE1394 Host
Controller.

Can anybody tell me where I find the right driver?

FYI I have Windows XP Pro with SP1. The machine is a 3
1/2 yr old 450MHz machine bought in Hong Kong i.e. not
branded.

All help much appreciated

Open the BIOS and check that plug and play is enabled.
Does QTEC have any driver updates?
Do you have the XP CD?
Does the card require a direct power connection?
Have you tried installing the card in a different machine to
see if the card is defective?

It is possible that the computer builder did not install all
the XP drivers because the computer did not have Firewire,
perhaps they used an image to install XP.
