Hi

I am having trouble disabling my WinXP firewall so I can
put another 1 on.

I goto network connection and r-click on Local internet
connections and disable as well as advance tab 'uncheck'
the check box for a firewall.

After this I cant connect to the internet and I try to
reboot but I still cant connect to the internet. I have
to turn on the WinXP firewall to access the internet

I am confused. Anyone help.

You should not be disabling your Local Area Connection - just uncheck the
firewall under the Advanced tab.

If you are disabling the LAN connection, then you are disabling your
internet/network connection. DO NOT disable the LAN connection, onlyemove
the check from the Internet Connection firewall.

Let us know.

Install the other firewall first. You don't have to disable your LAN
connection. Then disable the built-in firewall.

yep you are all right I disabled the LAN thinking it was
the firewall.

There is no need to disable the built-in firewall. It isn't necessary
to have it running while another firewall is also running, but it
doesn't cause any problems either.
