Firewall

I have adsl netgear modem that has firewall build in, do i need to still
have running my zonelabs firewall on my PC and does it reduce performance.
I have turned off windows xp firewall...

Both the firewall (if there is one) in a (NAT router?) ADSL modem, AND a
personal firewall on the computer, complement each other. Layered security is
essential today. On a properly setup computer, a personal firewall will NOT
reduce performance - the bottleneck will almost always be in the ADSL feed.
