firewall

After enabling a firewall, either XP's own or a third
party firewall the inernet connection drops after a few
seconds or a couple of minutes. I cannot find anywhere
that enables me to change any settings for this.
 
sorry forgot - internet security - status and setting / personal firewall / configure / home networking ADD
 
Maybe being a little thick here but something appears to
be missing from this reply?? it doesn't make a great deal
of sense, especially starting ' sorry forgot...'. Please
can you help?
