But it reminds me of a bug relating to Iomega Zip drives a few years
ago. It took me a couple of hours to find out why about 1 in 60
files disappeared when sent to the drive.
The time stamp of the file suffered from rounding errors -
6 mins, 30.2 seconds appeared as 6 mins 30 secs
6 mins 30.7 seconds appeared as 6 mins 31 secs,
But
6 mins 59.6 seconds disappeared as it was rounded to 6 mins 60 secs,
which was trapped by Iomega somewhere as illegal.
I got the true times from X-Tree - a great bit of software. No wonder
it took me hours to trace it.
Hi Graham.....I reread all that you had written and wondered if you knew
about the Old Version website where you can download older versions of
tons of programs which would suit your 98SE better.
Belated reply as my broadband died for several days. This is a great site - which confirms that 'latest version' rarely
means better. It usually means even more bloated.
I've just downloaded free PDF reader FoxitReader, following a magazine
recomendation. I had used the latest Adobe for a while but recently
downgraded to an earlier version which was much faster.
Early days yet, but Foxit just wipes the floor with any Adobe reader.

Glad you liked the site. I have been using Foxit for a year or more and
it is amazing. One of the MS MVP's recommended it. I had WinME before
and had to be really careful with any of the new programs so that site
was a godsend. Perfect for anyone using less than XP. And frankly, I
rarely put the *latest and greatest* of most programs on this XP
computer. I let others beta test them first (VBG).
Cheers....Heather
