Firewall objects not in Policy Editor

Hi all,

I am trying to get the default domain group policy to control settings
for Windows XP SP2 Firewall. I have followed the procedure at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/deploy/depfwset/wfsp2wgp.mspx
but it all stops at point 13.

I open the GPO as described, but it only gives me the "Offline Files"
and "Network and Dial-up Connections".

My guess is the GPO is not being updated by the SP2 templates, but I do
not know what to do about that ;-(

The workstation shows XP Pro SP2 and the DC is 2000 Server Standard
Edition.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks Steven,

I was looking through a couple of things, and from setting GPO for SUS
I am familiar with the purpose of .adm files, so was sparked when a
sentence mentioned system.adm in passing. Combined with the kb you
posted, my guess was to look for local .adm files, and there is only a
wmplayer.adm file. It seems I need a newer system.adm file most
probably delivered with SP2. I reapplied SP2 but still no system.adm
file.

Am I getting warmer, and if so does anyone have a system.adm file I can
hijack and where do I put it on lhe local PC?

Weird. It should be on your computer. Maybe you have another XP SP2 computer
you can try? Anyhow you can download then directly from Microsoft at the
first link below and the second link is about managing security templates
that may also be helpful. You may also want to install the Group Policy
Management Console on your XP domain workstation as you will find some very
nice enhancements in managing Group Policy in your Windows 2000 domain.
