Firewall message

I've been having trouble getting my VPN to work since I upgraded to SP2.
So I tried turning off the firewall. That didn't help, so I tuned it back
on again.

But every time I boot up, I get a message telling me that my computer is at
risk and I should turn on my firewall. I check (rebooting is taking
forever now), and it's on.

Meanwhile this computer doesn't see my LAN or the internet anymore. I don't
know if that is related. I am trying a lot of things. After I get that
warning message, it still takes forever for everything to be done - probably
because it is trying to find my router. Interesting that if I unplug my
ethernet card from the router, my computer knows it immediately.

I don't know whether this is related to this problem. (This is the problem
I am searching - but I know if I ask anybody about that, I will get referred
to a web site on home networks).

I would try all of the following in the order below:

Run msconfig and uncheck unwanted startup programs.
Run spybot or adaware to remove any spyware.

Try resetting your router by unplugging it and plugging it back in.

Try uninstalling your network card and then rebooting and letting windows
reinstall the network card driver.

If you are using third party firewall software unisnstall and reinstall the
firewall.

All of that was done or he wouldn't has SP2 running.
The net worked before SP2.
It is the network configuration and / OR FW Ports.

And as usual, the op has not supplied the detail information needed to give
an accurate answer.
Networks come in many configurations.

Found the problem. I deleted the old VPN connectors, but needed to
uninstall Sygate security as well.
