Firewall in XP

After sharing files with an XP and a Win 98, I can not
activate my Built in Windows XP firewall.

I initially chose "other computers connect to the
internet through this computer" (The XP)while usig the
Network Wizard. Now that I no longer have both computers
connected I decided to activate the firewall and I get
the following message" An error ocurred while Internet
Connecion Sharing was being enabled. The dependency
service or group failed to start"

Could some one give me an Idea as to where to make the
neccesary changes to make this happen. I am growing
frustrated and I am wide open to the world..
