Firewall down

I cannot get Windows Firewall to work. I have followed the on screen
instructions and tried to select the pick box (on recomended) in Windows
Firewall, General, but none of the pick boxes work (a dead menu page). I
would be gratefull for any advice on how I can overcome this problem.

Are you running another firewall app of any kind?.....possibly, even one
from your ISP? I know using Zone Alarm Pro will defeat the Win
Firewall......stands to reason that others may do the same.
Heirloom, old and ZAP works for me

I got the same problem. I ran an EXE which i didnt even realise was something
iwasnt trying torun, it popped up i clicked OK and thats it.... since then,
no firewall. I managed to delete the exe and teh rubbish it caused but the
firewall still refuses to run. On top of that windows website wont let me run
an update cos it says 'you need to be an administrator' which i am. so I
havent a clue whats going on. I need 23 updates and I just cant get them! I
ran the latest SP2 and it wont run, says my registry key somethingor other.
Dead!! Dunno what to do??

I could reinstall windows and move all my files to another HD? I dunno, its
all some kind of weird circl I gotmyself into. ATM I cant do nuffin, any
ideas??
