Are there any goof Firewall/Antivirus progs around? I thought NOD32 was
a joint prog but it only seems to be an AV. I've been using Panda
Internet Security but it will not work on my new notebook!

I use Sygate Personal Firewall with AVG Free. Work together very well.
No problems running on Windows 2000/XP.

HTH.

Sygate and Anti-Vir for me. No major issues yet.

I think the OP is looking for a program that's *both* AV *AND*
firewall.

Like rocking horse shit ! who would expect a program that monitors
internet connections to scan for virus signatures. Wow, would that slow
down surfing.

I've installed Sygate PF, and it was easy with outgoing stuff, but I've
had a couple of these incoming. I don't know what they mean, so I've
said no.
I don't know if all the free ones do this, but I will be struggling to
know if these are 'valid' or not?
Panda IS would simply say it had stopped a trojan or whatever without
all this data, which I found a lot easier!
Hope you don't mind me posting this detail.
Thanks.

And very unwise too. If the application got damaged or nobbled, you could
find both the firewall and AV functions failing at the same time.
Potentially not very nice.

Cheers,

Roy

I am using Zone Alarm and Avast Antivirus. I have never had any
problems and Avast AV talks to you! (Can be muted, I think!)

As it happens, I agree. I use Kerio and AVG and I'm very happy
with the combination.

That's where I'm at right now!
Thanks for all the suggestions.
