Can you share a printer on an XP Home machine with the firewill enabled. I am trying to connect with another XP Home machine

Yes, but it's much easier to just disable XP's Internet Connection
Firewall (ICF) on a local area network connection.

Enabling ICF on a local area network connection can prevent some types
of worms from spreading from an infected computer to the rest of the
computers. If that's what you want to do, enable the firewall and
then open the following ports: TCP 139, TCP 445, UDP 137, UDP 138.

Note that opening a port opens it to EVERYONE. It isn't possible to
open a port to your own computers and keep it closed to other people
on the Internet.

You can enable/disable ICF individually on each network connection.
Make sure that it's enabled, with NO open ports, on a direct modem
(dial-up, DSL, cable) connection to the Internet.
