FireFox query re: sorting bookmarks

What's the best way to sort the bookmarks in FireFox into alphabetical
order? Nothing I do seems to work! Gone to BookMark Manager and selected
all and tried that but it only sorts the 'outer' folders and not the
folder contents. Surely you don't have to sort the contents of each
individual folder separately do you?

TIA

First answer: Yes, you do. IMO, the Bookmarks Manager needs an
overhaul.

Second answer: The Sort Bookmarks extension is excellent and will do
what you want. Check the options before using it the first time, as
you can do things like tell it not to sort the Bookmarks Toolbar
Folder.

strange that they havent updated the one on the addons page at
mozilla.org...

The update.mozilla.org (UMO) team reviews extensions before they are
added there. Unfortunately, after the release of Firefox 1.0, a large
backlog of extensions built up, awaiting review. Then UMO stopped
reviewing extensions or updating the site at all for a while, while
they reorganized themselves and the site. Now they seem to be back on
track, but during the troubles it seems a lot of extension developers
grew frustrated and just stopped submitting anything new to UMO.

and that is sadly understandable...

This works great (as already stated) but I've just gone to d/l it for my

Anybody got an alternative?

Is there a way to copy an extension and save it to disk (or similar)?
Looked in the Mozilla Firefox/Extensions directory but nothing obvious
there.

Torisugari's site went AWOL sometime yesterday, I think. :(

I use several of his extensions, so I'm keeping an eye on his blog,

Right-click, 'save link as ...". Once you have downloaded an
extension's XPI file, you can install the extension by dragging it
onto a Firefox window.

Thanks for your tip about AM Deadlink; I haven't tried it yet, but it
sounds like it should help me very much.

I'm just glad I was able to offer something in return, thanks for your
help.

in browser, right click, context menu "save to..."
but in moz browsers you cannot dbl-clik to follow win shortcuts (.LNK) files. (one of those lil pizzerz)
so usually i right click on shortcut, explore, then copy from path in explore's addressbar, then finally paste into browser's save
dialog. this saves extension (.XPI file) into desired download folder.

i save XPIs because i drag-install XPIs into various moz-based profiles on two computers.

Thanks, but I meant is there a way to copy(save) an already installed
extension? The original source for the very useful extension I wanted for
another machine is now no longer available.
