At last ... I can SEE again. :D

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

and I'm still trying to get a screen shot ...

Mind you, every font in the drop-down list is now the same.

I shall continue to play with that ... :thumb:

For some reason it won't pick up on the drop down box itself for a screenshot.

Which program are you using for a screenie? Ksnapshot?

How are the fonts on the list all the same? It does list different fonts, right?

Yes, the drop-down list the fonts, but you also see in the drop-down what they are suposed to look like as you would in a word processor ... I need another vB site to check ... I'm off to Bits place.

Now I don't know what the defaults are suposed to be ...

Defaults in FF in SuSe are Serif and San serif.

Yep, I know what you mean about the drop down and seeing the font list in all the same font, and I know what you mean about supposed to be seeing them as they really look, but I'm guessing you are seeing them all the same because that's what SuSe is set for.

I saw your post at Scot's.

You can use Gimp to resize an image.

I'm testing some of the fonts in the forum drop down.

some look the same

Hmmmm, you know that TT font pack we downloaded ... How did you install it?

Hey, :D I just formatted a Floppy disk to a floppy disk drive I have no access to ... figure that one out on your day off.

Hey! how much am I paying you ... no matter, take a pay rise anyway, double it if you like. ;)

Ok, this was a very involved project. :D

I had some fonts I had saved to floppy disks long ago. But I only have one tower with a floppy drive, and that one was running SuSe, which won't allow me to mount the floppy drive.
Ok, I don't take defeat easily. ;)
This is also the tower that has 2 hard drives and another Linux OS on the other drive.
Luckily, I also have a cd burner on this tower. :thumb:
So, I change the drive, boot to Mepis, and I can use the floppy. Yay!
Open disk/s, drag fonts to desktop and burn to cd.
Then pop the cd in SuSe tower and copy fonts to desktop.
Opened Control Center, System Admin, Font Installer, click Admin Mode, password, Add Fonts, browse to find one, open, click OK. Close
Control Center. Open Firefox and look in Prefernces and Fonts. Yep, there it is! :)

I wanna BIG raise, boss. :D

However, I follow your expicit instructions to the letter ... and the Font Installer list 200 fonts ... I press Add Font, I browse to find (even one font would do me) ... and I have started at the begining of the universe AND even found a Font folder ..............

........ BUT I CAN'T FIND ANY BLOODY FONTS ............. aaaaaaaaaaagggggggghhhhhhhh

Hmmm, all hell broke loose, but I figured out how to save it ... now I see,

Boy, have I got a lot to learn here ... so all them 200 fonts are ALREADY installed, flipping heck ...

... "What did you do today Daddy" ... "well I installed one font on my new Linux thingie" ... and ... and what? ... is that it? ... what the heck do you want, go to bed.

Don't think I'll 'fix' anything else today ... I think I'll go and play on a busy motorway, it's safer.
