In XP Home SP1, how can I persuade Firefox to use the MS supplied Java
instead of downloading it again?

I have 6 boxes on a LAN to install on and I don't want to download Java
6 times.

MS doesn't supply Java any more. Download Java from here:

http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp/

Burn it to a cd-r and then you won't need to download it more than once.
