To turn XPs firewall on, click START, the "my network
places" then on that page click on the sidebar for "my
network connections." On the network connection or
connections you have, right click and select properties,
then the advanced tab. Put a check marl in the box (click
it) that says "protect my computer.

You can get a better firewall free from www.zonelabs.com
that will detect which programs on your computer are trying
to connect to the Internet outbound and you can selectively
allow or block these programs. This is protection for the
Internet from Trojans.

If Norton is "not working" - whatever that means - then you probably
were already infected before you installed it. You need to clean up
your computer first. A firewall, while necessary and a Good thing, will
not remove viruses from your computer.

OPen Control Panel, in that Network Connections. Right click the
connection you use, take Properties, and there is a check box on the
Advanced page to turn on the firewall
