Fingerprint reader stops working after sleep/hibernate

I have been looking arround for a while but I don't seem to find an answer
for my problem.
I got a HP NC4400 tablet computer with 2.5 gb of ram and vista enterprise
running on it.
This computer has a fingerprint reader that works fine until the computer
goes to sleep or hibernate mode. After resuming everything seems fine but the
fingerprint reader doesn't work.

Is there any solution for this?
Thanks

Thanks, It looks like it might work. But the link takes you to a page where
you have to start again with the support options.

Is there a way to get the Hotfix directly?

Thanks.

For hotfixes you normally have to phone Microsoft, explain the
situation and hope they decide that you can have it without charging
support time.

Click on the link http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support

and then try to work out which number to call.

However this KB article seems more directly involved?

You may experience problems after you resume a Windows Vista-based
computer from sleep or from hibernation

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929734

SYMPTOMS

You may experience one or more of the following problems after you
resume a Windows Vista-based computer from sleep or from hibernation: •
A device stops responding (hangs) or no longer works correctly. There
may be a yellow exclamation mark next to the device in Device Manager.
Or, the device may not appear in Device Manager. The device may be a
fingerprint reader, a Windows Media Center remote control, an optical
drive, a FeliCa reader, or some other device.

That's great -- many thanks.

You'd think MS would link to that instead of the general contact page.

Thanks for that link and all the help to this thread. I will try to get it
and let you know the results.
