Scenario: Running win 7 home premium!!

I can backup a image of same to my usb external drive but;

Why can't I direct the Image to a folder on the ext drive? because I
don't want to over-write it and have another win 7 to backup also.

After running it's backup image, whats the file size and name of the
image?

Does it end in .vhd ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VHD_(file_format)

"Microsoft also used the format in Complete PC Backup, a backup
software component included with Windows Vista and Windows 7."

I found a 26GB file ending in .vhd on my Windows 7 laptop.

That is the file type of a Virtual Hard Drive, a format used by
Microsoft Virtual PC, and also handy for making exact images of
things.
