Hi,

I inherited my predecessor's computer and files. She often stored multiple
identical copies of files in different folders. She also sometimes saved the
newest version of a file in a different location from the older version,
leaving behind an outdated version. I am wondering if I can search for
duplicate filenames, and if I can further refine the search to find only
files with the same last modified date or the same size. (Though in fact,
files with outdated earlier versions are my biggest problem, so really I
need to look for all duplicate names regardless of other differences between
the files.)

Thanks for any advice.

Norton utilities used to have a utility that does that ... don't know of
any easy way to accomplish this with basic XP utilities.

The xp search utility has some advanced features that allows you to search
by size or modified date. It's not the best but might be what you need.
