Find4u Won't Go Away

Hi,

Environment: O/S: XP (home ed.) - Browser: IE 6.0.2800.1106

Please explain how to make the Find4U browser home page PERMANTLY go away.
Not sure how it got on our system, but it's real pain. It loads everytime we
boot regardless of if we set the session to default to Yahoo.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, but that's pay link. We're power-users, so was hoping that someone
might have some instructions on how to remove it, instead of running a
utility. Please let me know if you know of any instructions.

Thanks again!

Find4u seems to be related with CoolWebSearch and the software which Anando suggested is the right one. As that site is under DDoS attack, you may get this utility from www.majorgeeks.com [CWShredder]. Manual removal is tedious as there are be different variants for CWS. Here is one: http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/library/coolwebsearch.mstaskm/index.phtml

FYI: I'm learning that even the "free" utitilies aren't so free afterall.
Once downloaded / executed, the "spy scanning" is free, which comes back and
reports what you already know. However, to "clean" the spyware [which of
course is what's really needed], you have to buy the so-called full version.
Geez, where is Mr. Norton when I need him. <g>

You're not reading the description. Here it is again: (Pay close attention
to the last two sentences)

"SpyFerret will scan your computer for more than 400 of the most notorious
spyware / adware programs that are available on the net today. It will
expose all spyware & adware components on your PC and give you a brief
description about each component. If you decide to remove the detected
Spyware, you can purchase the full version of SpyFerret for $39. Otherwise,
you can simply uninstall SpyFerret."

Wrong tool.

You want the following:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4113.html
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html
and lastly
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html
but do not use this one unless and until you understand *exactly* what it
reports. With this last tool, you can easily hose your self into oblivion.

Run AdAware (not mentioned above but I thought you said you'd run it
already?).
Run SpyBot.
Run CWShredder.

If still hosed, run HijackThis and post the log back here.
