find replace problem

Hi, the problem I'm having is; in a cell I have "2 vs 1"(ignore
quotes). When I use find 2 vs 1 and replace with 2 - 1 it returns
either a date or a five digit number. I have tried to format the cell
in the text mode but to no avail. Thanks in advance. wally667

Hi

This is because Excel is trying to be helpful, and it formats your 2-1 as a
date. Try putting in '2-1 instead (with a leading apostrophe).
