Find and Replace

I am very new to Access and I need to Find and Replace several characters
like (<&#... and things of the like. When I try to do a Find and Replace in
the Table in which I have imported the text file, I get an error having to do
with this "is not supported by this ISAM". I assume this has to do with the
table being linked to the original text file. How am I able to do this Find
and Replace with this data? Any help is appreciated.

Run the find and replace on the original source document, using a text
editor. If that's not feasible, import the text file instead of linking to
it.
