'Find' already wanting to look for something

This is something *I've* never seen before, but not sure
if anyone else has come across this.

For some reason lately whenever I use Ctrl+F to open the
Find dialog, there is already something in the 'find what'
box. It is always the number 211.

I didn't notice this until this week, but it happens with
any workbook--even a blank one with no macros/data
anywhere. Also, there is nothing in the personal workbook
that would be doing this. The only Workbook_Open macro I
have is to make sure the task pane comes up when I start
Excel, and no personal.xls macros have anything to do with
searching/finding.

Any ideas on why this is happening? If I can't get rid of
it, I guess it's not that big of a deal as I can just type
over it when I bring up the box (which is what I've been
doing). I'm just finding the whole thing rather odd.

Thanks!

Excel "helps" out by remembering this stuff--but won't remember between excel
sessions.

So either you're doing a Find (and you don't remember it <vbg>) or you have a
helpful macro running that's doing one for you.

Close excel
Start excel in Safe mode
windows start button
run
excel /safe

Safe mode will stop addins (including your personal.xl* file from opening).

And try ctrl-F (edit|find).

If 211 is there, then I'm full of ...

But if it's not, you can try to isolate the code that does the find.

Uncheck each item in Tools|Addins (but make a note to add them back).
Move all the files out of the XLStart (all the XLStart) folders.

Then start adding them back. Restart excel after each one and see what happens
with ctrl-F.

Ah, ok. So far it appears to be ASAP Utilities that's
doing it for some reason. The 211 doesn't appear until I
load that addin, then it's still there if I 'turn it off.'
I'll see if reinstalling it will reset it or something.

Thanks! :)
