Find all related messages

I am running Outlook 2002. Here is the synopsis:

I right click on an e-mail and select Find All, Related
Messages. Outlook does a quick search or I stop the
search before it is done. I click the Browse button to
select the folders that I want to search and the Search
subfolders check box is not available for me to mark.
Why is this?
 
Are you trying to search public folders on Exchange? If so, this is a
limitation and can't be done, AFAIK.
