Filtering spam based on sender's mail

When someone sends me an email, there's really two parts to the person's FROM
info. There's what they call themselves as a name AND their email, such as:
John Doe <[email protected]> .

I get quite a few spam from a sender masking with my own email address and
the name Approved Vaiagarra Store
(ie: Approved Vaiagarra Store <[email protected]> )

I don't want to filter out (e-mail address removed) because sometimes I send myself
a note or cc myself in things. But I would like to filter out the word
"Approved". I just don't see any way in Outlook '03 to filter based on what
they CALL themselves...only parts of their email address.

Am I missing this somewhere? Would love to be free of those. Thanks!

You can't filter on the display name. You could filter on words in the
header, but I would not filter on Approved - real mail may contain that word
in the subject (which also is in the header).

My preference is to filter mail from me and use alternate addresses to send
myself mail from websites. (I never cc myself and if I did, I’d cc an
alternate address to avoid the rule). If you always use a footer, you could
add an exception for a unique word in your footer or add a keyword to the
subject when you send yourself mail.

Finally, rules are not a good way to handle spam. Using Outlook
2003/2007/2010's junk mail filter set on high will get most of the crap.
