FILL A RANGE OF NUMBERS

Is there any function in excel that would allow me to put a numerical value in one cell and a higher one in another cell, then automaticly fill a column with the first and last value and everything in between? For instance in A1 type 001, in A2 type 005 then have the B column show 001, 002, 003, 004, 005 from B1 to B5. Any advice would be gratefully received.

How about just using Fill > series?

Example:

Put in B1: 1
Click Edit > Fill > Series
Check "Columns" under "Series in"
Put the last figure (say 1000) in the Stop value box
Click OK

The above will fill B1:B1000 with the numbers

Addition to suggestion by Max.

If you truly want 001, 002, 003 etc.

After doing the Fill per Max, select the cells and Format>Cells>Custom
"000"(no quotes).
