files open automatically

If you use two pointing devices, like a touch pad, and a usb mouse, one must
be disabled in device manager to avoid a conflict in some cases.
 
I run windows xp home. No matter what program I am running, the mouse starts
bouncing all over the screen and opening windows. Nothing I have tried seems
to help. I have Norton (which finds no virus) spy-bot and ad-ware. Windows
fire wall is enabled with Norton. Any Ideas?
