Files corrupted on windows 2000 pro/SP4 NTFS

Hi,

I'm using windows 2000 pro/SP4, my disks are brand new and formatted
NTFS.
I've thought this filesystem is the safest filesystem for windows 2000
but I discovered recently that a lot of my digital pictures (jpeg and
psd files) are corrupted when I try to open them!
Yet I often run checkdisk, scandisk, defrag in order to keep my disk's
integrity. I use AVG antivirus which is up to date.
I don't uderstand why some of my other files (.zip) are corrupted too.

Anyone can suggest me what to do to anticipate this aggravating
problem?

Thanks a lot

Vince,
Are you only having problems with jpeg and psd files?
Are there any other files on the system you are having problems with?
How large are the jpeg and psd files?

Hi Joe,
I also have problems with .exe and .zip files.
jpeg sizes are about 300 to 700 KB. Psd sizes are about 1 to 3 MB.
I really don't understand why I have these errors on my NTFS disks.

This is not a normal situation obviously or there would be numerous reports of this.
The files sizes are not large enough to generate problems.
The problems are not really file type specific so a specific application shouldn't be causing an issue. So we are left with old utilites, old drivers, hardware, or
possibly a virus causing an issue. The defrag and chkdsk shouldn't be causing a problem unless there is a problem with hardware.
It may be a little late to ask, but you mentioned errors and I neglected to ask you what specific errors are you referring to.
What is the exact verbage of the error message.
