FILES CANNOT BE FOUND

NOTE: delete '2' in addy on reply
I upgraded to XP from 95, shop transferred files named
it "old C". When I go to open a file I get message
that "windows does not recognize file type". These are
basic files I had no problem with on 95. The generic box
with all the file types that popped up on 95 isn't to be
found. Another error is "open with file that it was
created with" Well it's getting rather frustrating I have
several files that are unreadable. Any suggestions??

What kind of files are they? If they're data files, do you have a program
installed that will read that type of file? The operating system by itself
doesn't read many data files, so if there's no program installed to read the
files, you'll the message you're seeing.
