System performance was decreasing so I decided to run
defrag. I have uninstalled all rarely used software,
removed page file so that it would be excluded from
defrag, used clean up to remove temp files, etc. And I
have approx 50% free space on 30G hd. Yet the defrag
report says there are still aa number of files that
cannot be defragmented. Is there a way to correct this
problem? Had one thought that I could copy files (defrag
prints list) to CD, remove from hard drive, defrag, then
copy back from CD. However, the files are rather
large...with one or two over 160M. Any help his greatly
appreciated.

I may have copied the wrong link - thanks for pointing that out. Look for
the article in TechNet called "Files That You Cannot Defragment".
