Files and Settings Transfers extracted on specified hard drive

I have used the Files and Settings Transfers program on a old computer and
put everything on an external harddrive. My new computer doesn't have enough
space on it to dump everything on it. I would like to have all of the files
for use on the external hard drive. Is there a way to specify where I want to
extract the files to?

So you purchased a new PC with a too small hd?
Doesnt sound very bright.
Theres no point using FST in these curcumstances, simply copy data to your
external HD, from the old PC

Well, here is the deal. I didn't buy a new computer, I have a friend who
wanted to transfer all of her files off of her computer just to have on a
hard drive. She had this computer for a long time and there are random things
all throughout the computer in different folders. I thought it would be
easier to just do the transfer files program on the XP to transfer it to my
1TB hard drive. When I did that the final folder that I got was 151GB. The
computer I tried using only has 80GB of space to use, not to mention the
stuff that is already on it. So I hoped I could figure out a way to extract
the USMT2.UNC folder to my hard drive. Does any of this make sense? Or
possible? Thank you in advance

You should use the "custom" selection in the FTW,this way the files/data that
it collects are ones worth saving..Otherwise,the FTW collects data that you
probably dont need or want..As far as using or opening those files to a 2nd
hd,no it isnt a FTW option, thier are other microsoft utilities that save ones
files/data but you'd have to chk them out for details...
