files and settings transfer

Is there any way to speed up this transfer. I am using a serial cable port
to port and each computer has XP and yet it says it will take 93 hours to
tranfer the files and settings ??
 
Yeah, there is. Don't use a serial port. Why can't you use the USB
port (*with the cabling and software*), which is a LOT faster?
