Files and Settings Transfer

I just bought a new computer and am trying to transfer files using the Windows XP Transfer Wizard and a Null Modem Cable attached to my serial port. This is just about the only means I have of transferring files.

My problem is that I let the wizard run for quite a long time (overnight) but it always stops at some point without successfully completing the file transfer. I have tried selecting only a few files to be transferred. I get the same result.

Can you help me? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

A serial cable is an extremely slow way to accomplish this, and if the
transfer is large it can concievably take days to accomplish. Are you sure
it has halted? Make sure niether machine is set to powerdown into standby
mode.

Frankly, it may be worth investing in a couple of nic's and a crossover
cable for the headaches you will avoid.
